# Expanded school workflows

The second implementation adds depth to the original school system while preserving its records and login accounts.

| Workflow | Earlier build | Expanded build |
|---|---|---|
| Student lifecycle | Register and move one learner | Admissions stages, corrected profiles, private files, emergency contacts and reviewed bulk progression |
| Teaching | One class teacher | Subject-specific teaching, saved terms and timetables with conflict checks |
| Learning | View published marks | Homework tasks, student responses, teacher feedback and linked-parent viewing |
| Report cards | Recalculate progress | Validate complete term results, save approved versions and preserve earlier grades/comments |
| Fees | Charges and receipts | Invoice allocation, reviewed openings, debit/credit corrections and linked refunds |
| Accounting | Fees/cash export | Automatic double entry, journal approval, ledger, trial balance, financial position and control reconciliation |
| Purchasing | Deferred | Suppliers, bills, payments, payables and offsetting corrections |
| Cash control | Verify transfers | Bank matching, outstanding entries and closed-period protection |
| Parent communication | School notification settings | Per-child preferences and cancellation of queued alerts |
| Recovery | SQL backup | SQL/private-file bundle with integrity hashes |

The populated fictional demonstration includes applications, subject teachers, weekly lessons, homework/feedback, supplier records, a bank-matching example, a pending journal and official report versions. Use the head account for approvals and the parent/student accounts for the family experience.

Production configuration and remaining extensions are explicitly listed in README.md.

## Grouped navigation

The sidebar now groups related pages under Students, School fees, Finance, Attendance, Academics, Communication, Reports and Administration. Overview remains a direct link. Expand a group to see its pages; the current group opens automatically and highlights the selected page. The page breadcrumb uses the same group and page names.

Only permitted pages and groups appear for each account. Parents see My children and students see My profile. School fee balances remain separate from accounting tools. Subject and term setup sits with academics; the email centre sits with communication.

Navigation destinations, active highlighting and automatic group opening were checked for all eight demonstration roles. Expand/collapse and page navigation were also reviewed in the browser at desktop and phone sizes. Existing workflows and data remain in place.
